Vampires and other Profanities

14:58 by malin

So, I just read Twilight and New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer. This seems to be the new hype all over the net. Seriously, the literate forum kids LOVES these books. It is about love, vampires, drama, werewolves and a high school girl. Does this not have all the ingredients of a hit series?

I realized when reading these books, which was very quickly and easily read, that I wished they had appeared ten years ago. I would have loved when when I was thirteen. Or even when I was sixteen. Now they reminded me of a popsong on the hit charts in some way. It was a catchy read, it was entertaining, it passed the time and made me smile a couple of times. But that was about it. The plotline was good enough, but when I put the book down, I discovered that I had no large interest in the characters of the book. I wasn't bored by it, it just didn't seem to make an impact on me.

The main characters of these books are Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Bella is a high school girl. Edward attends high school, too. But he turns out to be a hundred years old vampire. Now, while I understand every teenage girls infatuation with vampires, I don't understand how it is okay for a vampire to date a teenager. Let us face is, if a teenager dated a thirty year old, that would be bad, right? If she dated a hundred year old, even worse! But if he LOOKS seventeen, then it is romantic.

And what is with these Twilight vampires? The glitter in the sun! Vampires are supposed to burn or die in the sun, not go all sparkly like a diamond and run around like angels. They are not supposed to drive silver coloured volvos either, for that matter. My mind just never could accept this fact. A creature of the night who turns sparkly in the sun.

Well, I suppose it is original.

What happens to Bella and Edward? I really don't know. I never finished the third book. Maybe I will. I'm bored a lot these days. And these books are entertaining me in the same way as a meduimly good TV show. So.. I don't see any reasons not to read it. Just take it for what it is. A teenage thing. Like Harry Potter was a kiddie thing (at first, anyway. I still think Harry was better writter!)

A Monday's Journey Across the web.

11:19 by malin

First of all, I checked my mail, facebook and all that, read the news and searched for new posts on my regular forums. There wasn't anything revolutionary anywhere, so I got bored quite quickly.
The same forums, news and mails from the same people over and over, it does get a little bit mundane.

But. Yesterday was Sunday, and Sundays means new secrets at postsecret.com, so I went to check those out. I really love reading these secrets. It is like peeping into people's mind or something. Quite interesting. People do have the weirdest secrets. Can you imagine being afraid the toilet will eat your bum?

Secondly, seeing as yesterday was Sunday, and today therefore is Monday, there was a new comic up at questionable content. I really do love these characters, and the comic-strip man behind it all is really witty! I read this comic every Mon- through Friday, so.. yes, it is good!

At wwtdd, Neve Campbell's boobs was the top story all weekend. Apparently, they are not to that bloggers liking. Do we care? No, not at all. It also seems that Miley Cyrus is sorry, for having done a photo shoot with Vanity Fair. She shows her shoulder. I honestly don't see the harm (other than she is fifteen years old, and acts as a grown up lady with a lot of sexy or something). The story is also covered at justjared, where they have more than one article on the case.
Oh. And guess what. Tom Cruise is back on Oprah!

For those of you interested in the environment, or just in the earth and its development in general. This site gives a rather nice visiual aid. You can see deaths, births and 1000 tonnes of CO2 emitted as you watch, on a world map. I kinda like it. It is also disturbing, in a way, how much we use, and how many of us there are. We really need to think about that. Like the people who built a hobbit house to live in. It is kinda cute!

There are so many pretty places around the world, and I want them to stay around forever, so we all can have a look at them. I found something new and quite spectacular today. Well, it is new to me, anyway. But, I really want to go there someday! Just look at how pretty and extraordinary that is!

And, if you want to see pictures from the same places over 24 hours, and play your own little film of it, you can go here to do that. You can play it back and forth, fast or slow. It's kinda nifty!

Maybe someday our cities will look like this. I am not sure if that would be extremely cool or just odd.

Oh. And lastly... Apparently I've had 2002 drinks in my lifetime. Oh joy!

Creepy News about 24 year long Captivity!

09:02 by malin

Remember Natascha Kampusch, anyone? The girl who had been kidnapped and held captive for eight years, and the suddenly managed to escape at the age of eighteen. It was big news all over Austria (where it happened), and the rest of Europe.

Now it looks like Austria is getting another one of these cases on their hands. Seventy-three year old Josef Fritzl have supposedly held his daughter Elisabeth and her children captive for twenty-four years. That is since 1984! Apparently, Elisabeth had seven kids, but one died, and Josef burned the body. He is also supposed to be the father of the six living children.

Apparently, Josef's wife knew nother. She was told Elisabeth had ran away.

This story came to light when one of Elisabeth's children turned up in a hospital in Amsterdam.

Learning To Drive. Ahhahahahaha!

07:56 by malin

This is just like my dad when he was teaching me how to drive. I still get bloody nervous whenever he is with me in the car. Seriously! It is scary as hell.

Needless to say, he was not a very good teacher, and I went elsewhere to become the fantastic driver that I am.

truly.

Yuwie

05:59 by malin

Yuwie is a online community that offers to pay its members, for doing exactly what you are already doing one Facebook, Myspace etc. It actually promises to pay a lot. And, what do you have to do to get this money? Well, nothing more than message your friends, invite friends, look at people's profiles, leave comments and so on.

In fact, if you refer people, Yuwie will pay you for all of their clicks, too. Actually, they offer a ten-people-down referral tree payout.

The problem? Well, for it to actually pay off, people have to click a whole lot. Secondly, people already have facebook, Myspace and God Knows What. They do not want another community to keep track on. People are just too damn busy these days. They have their In Real Life friends, their MySpace friends, their friends from their favourite forums, MSN friends... Do they REALLY need another online community? Even if it promises to pay?

Of course, the money issue is quite tempting. I admit. I like money. A lot.

Only, it would be a whole lot faster to make money going to a crappily paid job, than poke around Yuwie all day. (I had a thousand views, it gave me something like 0.001 dollars. Not something to buy me a new car, really.)
Of course, the real money comes in if you refer a lot of people, and they refer a lot of people and so on. If that happens, you can actually make a whole. Lot.

Which brings me back to the problem of pestering your friends with this. Do they really need another online community? Even if it pays? (And I've seen people put up picture of 100$ or more payouts, so yes, it does pay if you are persistent enough.)

Maybe they do. Maybe not. I know I do not want to sit reload a page endlessly for a month to receive a dollar or two. So, the question really is.. Would you be able to refer a lot of people? I know I'm not.

Oh. And just because. If you join, please use my referral link. I'd like to make money out of you all, after all. In the spirit of making new Yuwie friends and all that. I'm greedy like that.

http://r.yuwie.com/nilaw - that is one link, that will take you to the intro video.
http://profile.yuwie.com/nilaw - this will take you to my profile.

Enjoy the chase for referrals and dollars! ;)

Fun Charity!

15:40 by malin

http://www.freepoverty.com/ - Play a geography game, while donating cups of water!
http://www.freerice.com - A game that will enhance your vocabulary, and donate rice!
http://www.freeflour.com - Guess the correct capital of a country, etc, and donate flour!

It never hurts to help those in need. In fact, I have come to believe that it is important to do so! So, I am posting these links hoping someone will click them, and play the informative, educational games they offer! It is actually quite addictive and fun, too!
Charity isn't just about giving loads of money. A lot of people, myself included, go through times where there is little to spare. Surely, if I gave too much away, I would need some charity myself soon.
What it is about, is caring about others, and wishing to make a difference towards the better. And then actually do something. It does not matter how much or how little, just do something.

Like playing these games. It will kill your time waiting for work to end, something to download or whatever, teach you useful things, and help people in need.

I don't see why you should not click these links! It costs so very little for you to do so, but gives so much to those who receive the donations from it.

IRL is affecting my onlineness!

11:15 by malin

So, work, financial troubles and my need to sleep is seriously getting in the way of RPing, playing around in photoshop, building my site and so forth. I am not at all enthused! Now, don't get me wrong, I am absolutely thrilled about having a job! I just.. I dunno.
I have applied for a job during summer to work nights at a psyc ward. It pays well, and will give me lots of hours, so yay! And I can read or knit or whatever while I'm there.
The job I am going to tonight is not at all so calm! It is running around and being nice and helpful and cleaning with a big bright smile on my face! And, I am feeling a bit sickly and sleepy. So.. mleeh.

Well. I have all of tomorrow off, so then I shall be all onliney and get stuff DONE!

CSS is about to KILL me!

11:30 by malin

Blah. So my good friend Mimmy is kind enough to host me at malin.ardnieu.com. This is very nice of her, and I love the opportunity of my own little webspace. I think I really ought to have one, because really, I am an online kinda girl. I could live my life online. (Sure, I'd get sick of not any contact with real people, but for the most part, my net-life is way better tha IRL atm! I am so much cooler online! :P)
Anyway. It all started out with a blog. It is a rp blog, seeing as ardnieu is actually all a RP board! The blog malin.ardnieu.com/blog is already quite succesfull in the terms of hits per day and such. (Okay, so not so much. Like 25 a day, but to me that is a lot!) It is the index that is bothering me. The css just won't cooperate! WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT! ARGH!
I want the content div, and the nav div side by side, under the header div. How HARD can it possibly be?

And my brother keeps calling me to help him with trigonometry. I have not has such math in like five or six years. I am kinda proud of myself for managing to explain it all to him! Hah! Math!Malin!

But obviously NOT css!Malin! poo!

A Very Stupid Rant.

16:34 by malin

This is not at all politically correct. But I hardly care right now. Blah!

Half of the people on McDonalds here have not bothered to learn
Norwegian. Okay, so Hamburgers might be an American thing and whatever,
but if you are going to work in a place with costumers, you ought to
learn the language of the country you are in! If I go somewhere to
order food, in NORWAY, I expect to be able to do so in NORWEGIAN!

Seriously.

Most
work ads have "must speak Norwegian fluently" in the needed
qualifications. Duh. Isn't that kinda understood? It also makes me
wonder just have many people who lives here, without speaking the
language.

If you immigrate, learn the language! Take a class.
Socialize with the locals. Whatever. Just don't make a bloody getho and
your own little unintegrated population! Play with the locals! They are
real nice people! (And their taxes pay your social security money! It's
true!)

I know I am being mean and stuff now. I swear, I am not a racist! Just.. It bugs me when I cannot use my own language in my own country. It is not harder than any other language to learn, so.. If you plan on getting a job serving others, take the time to learn it!

I would if I moved somewhere else! Especially if I took a job! DUH!

Blah!

06:30 by malin

I am bored out of my mind these days! It is true. Because of a technical error in the paperwork, no exams for me this semester, so no school. And very little work. Everyone else is at school or at work, so I what am I supposed to do all day? Really. I poke around the net, and I sleep. I eat a bit, too. And that is about it.

I AM GOING CRAZY!

Really.

I need to be entertained. Or put to work. We all know I could use the money. So. BLAH!

My dad is coming to town today, so I guess we'll go out for dinner. That's always nice. And, he will be picking up a new car next week. A convertible! That will be so awesome for the summer! I am just a tad excited! I do enjoy driving fancy cars! (I know, I know, such a vain activity, but oh so lovely!)

As for my boredome, I have taken up my writing, but there's no use, really. I simply have too much spare time on my hands, and nothing is constructive. I got much more creative stuff done when I was busy. Now I am just a lazy fucker with no direction or anything.

I hate this.

Poo.

Animal Cruelty Makes Me Angry!

08:18 by malin

Everyone, if you have facebook, please join this group:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10071854626&ref=nf

It is a petition against an "artist" that chain dogs up in galleries, places food out of their reach, and let them starve. I find this cruel, unnecessary, heartless and not at all artistic. How can people watch this and approve? How can anyone call this art?

Dogs feel hunger. Dogs feel pain. Dogs die of famine. Just like humans.

You may argue that lots of people die of hunger every day. This is sad, angering and horrible, i couldn't agree more. But this does not make it okay to torture other creatures! There is no excuse to starve any animal to death for the sake of art.

This is NOT art! It is cruelty and torture. Do not accept it!

Science! No, srsly!

11:38 by malin

So, science is a beautiful thing. Not only do we have the old fashioned periodic table and all that shizznizz, we have also managed to make a human/cow-hybrid. I find this rather interesting, if nothing else. Of course, this is only an embryo, who will be destroyed after 14 days (it's just a small ball of cells by then. Not even the size of a drop of water, they say). This is due to ethical guidelines and rules, of course.
Still, am I the only one who have a small, very morbid, part of me that wonders what it would end up as if it was allowed to develop? What if one of the scientists wonders, too, and secretly make a cowman?

No, really. They are not allowed to. They are doing scientific research. Probables are, we will see medicines and medical treatments come from this project.

Still.

A MANCOW!

I find it slightly disturbing. And fascinating. But disturbing.

SEX TOYS!

06:07 by malin

Yes. You read correctly. Sex toys! (Yes, *gaspshockhorror!*)

What is it with them that makes them so controversial, exiting, taboo and yet fancy and sometimes even exclusive, all at the same time? Truthfully, I've no idea! They are frowned upon by some, worshipped by some, not talked about by others.

But, I bet you this. Ask a girl if she's got one, and she'll probably say no. Ask her if she wants one, and she'll still say no. Chances are she's lying.

Everyone wants one! Most girls own one, even. It can have been a gag gift from a friend, a crazy purchase, a secret order from a funky website, or even a valentines day gift from a lover. But everyone got one! And, if they don't, they are probably a little bit curious. If only of morbid fascination.

At the same time, it seem to be widely accepted for girls to have these things, and go shopping for them. And, lord knows, they come in all sizes, shapes colours, and even with lighting effects. (Why they need that, I have no idea.) What is weird, though, is that boys are looked upon as weird if they own a toy. Be it a lovedoll or some other thing. Girls can have toys. Boys can't. Why not?

And then, there is the paradox. Boys have always been comfortable talking about "having wanked it off", without there being any problem to this. While girls cannot talk about such things. Why is this? Girls can own private toys, brag about them to friends even, but not use them?

I find this strange.

And. Yeah. I have one. It was a gag gift. I laughed when I got it. And most girls I know have one, or wants one. I know of one who made a piggybank to save up her pennies, even. Must we really judge her for it? I hope we can just get over it!
